How to make a can of compressed air. A can of compressed air for blowing out a laptop How to use old cans of compressed air

Spray cans with compressed air often help bring life back to faulty equipment. In most cases, it is thanks to cans of compressed air that many of us save significant amounts of money that we could have spent by taking the equipment to the service center. Spray can, of course useful tool in capable hands, but even skillful hands sometimes they cannot find it because it is not sold in every store. The question arises: what to do? Immediately after that comes the answer: make it yourself.

So, in order to make a can of compressed air with our own hands, we will need:
- Empty aerosol can;
- Nipple from a bicycle with a special adapter for a car pump;
- A tube that can be removed from the WD-40 (you can also use PVC insulation removed from the cable);
- Epoxy resin.

The materials have been collected, you can begin. First of all, take the nipple and grind its edges.

Next, take the can. At its bottom we need to make a hole with a diameter of 8 mm. Through the hole made, you need to remove the standard plastic tube aerosols, since it simply won’t be needed. After this, we take the adapter for the car pump and begin to cut the thread in the hole we made.

The next thing is to take a drill with a diameter of 2 mm and begin to expand the aerosol nozzle to the diameter of our tube. You need to make sure that the tube fits tightly into the hole and also holds.

Next, take the bicycle nipple, coat it with epoxy resin and screw it into the adapter. As a result, we get one whole part, which in turn is the same epoxy resin screw it into the bottom of the can.

The can is ready. All that remains is to pump it up with air. You need to pump to the end of your strength, without worrying about the integrity of the can. The fact is that a person can manually pump air into a can with a pressure of approximately 5 atmospheres, car pump you can achieve a pressure of 10 atmospheres, an electric compressor will help double the result of a car pump, but even this will not damage the can, which is designed for 40 atmospheres.

The only drawback of such an invention is that when the pressure drops, it begins to work not so well. To avoid the need to frequently pump air into the can, you can take a can from an air freshener or something else, as long as it is large.

We are usually unenthusiastic when asked to dust off a computer or other household appliance that is full of hard-to-reach places. A can of compressed air does a good job with this task, but it is not sold on every corner. So it's better to make it yourself.

We prepare the necessary materials and tools:

– tin or aluminum aerosol can;
– nipple from the bicycle inner tube;
– adapter for a car pump;
– an empty tube of ballpoint pen paste;
– epoxy glue (poxypol is best);
– thin wire;
– drill, pliers, file, pump.

We design

We take out the nipple from the old bicycle inner tube and grind off the edges (installation grooves) with a file - carefully so that the thread for screwing remains intact. We need the nipple to be perfectly round.

We take an aerosol can (from shaving foam, hairspray, deodorants, etc.) and drill a hole in the center of its bottom along the diameter of the adapter. You can see the adapter in the lower right photo (golden cylinder to the right of the cylinder).

Bend thin wire in the form of a hook and use it to pull it out plastic straw, located inside the can - we don’t need it.

The adapter will fit tightly into the hole prepared for it. Taking advantage of this, using pliers, carefully screw the adapter into the hole, creating a thread. The adapter should easily screw into and out of the hole. For now, unscrew it and set it aside.

Now we prepare the glue. The components of poxypol - glue and activator - are contained in separate tubes. Squeeze them onto a plate in a 1:1 ratio and mix them together with a stick (the plate and stick are included in the kit). Lubricate the nipple with glue and insert it into the adapter.

Having coated the hole at the bottom of the cylinder with glue, screw the adapter with the nipple into it.

Screw in until it stops. Now the glue should dry for several hours (about a day).

When the glue dries, drill a hole in the spray can for the paste tube. The tube must be clean: wash it with acetone or some solvent. To ensure that it fits tightly into the hole and holds well, lubricate the end of the tube with glue.

Again we wait until the glue dries, and here it is, a can of compressed air, ready:

Using the can as intended

We inflate the balloon with a bicycle pump. You can manually pump 4-5 atmospheres. A car foot pump can pump up to 10 atm. An electric compressor will pump up to 20 atm. The aerosol can is designed for approximately 40 atm.

It is believed that a can of compressed air can be useful for removing dust from hard-to-reach places in computers, laptops and other electronic equipment.

I've been dealing with this for 33 years personal computers and I have never used a can of compressed air - I admit that I am dense and lagging behind modern progressive trends in electronics repair, but my experience shows that you can do without them, although trying out a can of compressed air is definitely necessary.

In Yandex.Market I found FIS F1-1007S - Compressed air can, 283 g. (236 ml). Price: 780.84 rubles and delivery 600 rubles.

In the YULMART store (Snezhnaya str., 26) you can buy Pneumatic cleaner Cactus CSP-Air400 for cleaning equipment, 400 ml at a price of 400 rubles.

Cactus CSP-Air400 is a pneumatic cleaner for professional cleaning of hard-to-reach areas of equipment.

Usage experience: Recently February 18, 2016
Advantages - It is relatively inexpensive, big size(400 ml), tube for spot use included
Disadvantages - None
General impressions - Price/quality is excellent

Usage experience: Recently May 11, 2016
Advantages - An indispensable tool for cleaning PCs and other electronics.
Disadvantages - A small life hack for those who have weak wind: this happens due to the cooling of the cylinder during the blowing process. When the bottle has cooled down, simply warm it under the stream hot water— it will blow so much that it doesn’t seem like enough (until the balloon cools down again). Repeat until the desired result is achieved, or until the contents of the container run out.
General impressions - Great item at a reasonable price. In any case, cheaper than retail in a store.

Usage experience: Recently March 12, 2016
Advantages - none.
Disadvantages - Absolutely useless in cleaning PCs. The air flow is so weak that it can barely blow away the dust.
General impressions - 400 rubles down the drain, it’s easier to take a PC, go to a nearby car service center and blow it out of a compressor for that money!

I have a car compressor that I use to inflate the wheels of my cars - I can easily bring it into the apartment and power it from the Volvo 744 battery stored in the apartment.

I have two of my favorite tools, with the help of which 85% of any equipment malfunctions are repaired. This is WD-40 and compressed air. To fix it, just blow it out and lubricate it. As usually happens, the air ran out suddenly. But this thing is not sold on every corner. I had to make a design like this.

Source materials:
Empty aerosol can.
Bicycle nipple with adapter for car pump.
WD-40 tube or removed PVC wire insulation.
Epoxy. Poxypol is perfect.

Some time later, when the material for the article was already ready, I made the same thing from an empty standard 400 ml compressed air cylinder. It worked much better.

We grind off the edges of the nipple.

We make an 8 mm hole in the bottom of the cylinder. Through this hole we remove the plastic tube. We won't need it. We cut a thread in the hole with an adapter for a car pump.

Drill 2 mm. expand the nozzle under the tube.

The tube should fit tightly into the hole and hold well.

We screw the bicycle nipple with epoxy into the adapter. And we also screw the resulting part into the bottom of the cylinder with epoxy.

We inflate the balloon. We pump with a bicycle pump while we have the strength. You don't have to worry about integrity. You can pump 4-5 atm manually; foot car 5-10 atm; electric compressors provide up to 20 atm. The cylinder itself is designed for 30-40 or more atmospheres.

This solution has a drawback. As the pressure drops, this thing blows worse and worse. Therefore, it is advisable to take large-volume cylinders. For example, from air fresheners.
We inflate the cylinder with compressed air.

It is worth noting that in the same way you can make a reusable WD-shk, only in the lower part you need to solder (weld, glue) a nut the right size and screw the nipple not into the body, but into the nut. We pour purified kerosene through a funnel (and that’s exactly what the WD tank consists of), screw in the nipple, and pump it up. Considering that 400 ml. WD costs 250 rubles, and a liter of kerosene costs 50 rubles, then this device is worth thinking about :-)

# zabatsay 04/16/2011 21:11
Good idea! Only the composition of WD-40, if I’m not mistaken, is white spirit, oil, and tricky additives. I'm not really sure that this thing will work well in compressed air. Need carbon dioxide. Need to try.

# dobryni 04/16/2011 13:00
By the way, WD is not a lubricant at all, it is a cleaner and it cleans not only rust and dirt, but also the remaining lubricant of the mechanism itself. So after cleaning, don’t forget about regular lubrication :-)

# dobryni 04/17/2011 02:53
Tested, cleans just as well. 2 flaws, does not leave behind protective film(the same additives) and it stinks terribly, but everything has its pros and cons
:-)

I’ve never seen such an adapter, or maybe I didn’t pay attention, but it’s an interesting idea. By the way, is the smell from the desic still there?

# Dimka45kgn 06/16/2011 12:58
When I did it, I did it according to your instructions - I thought that I wouldn’t be able to remove the tube from the cylinder, but it turned out to be so simple, thank you!

# Vladickbeliy 01/28/2012 20:38
I also made such a thing from a freshener

# priborr 04/24/2012 13:30
and who made such a contraption, tell me: does it have to be an aluminum cylinder or will it be made of tin?

# kelendria 08/10/2012 23:01
better take a siphon. it is also made of aluminum. and there is no need to drill if there is no siphon. Homemade balloon with compressed air

# igor 06/05/2012 15:42
What pressure can be applied to a 75 ml can?

# Trumkin 06/15/2012 18:14
Is it possible to immediately install a car nipple without an adapter?

# kelendria 08/10/2012 22:53
the balloon is bullshit. I made it simpler. took an old siphon and screwed it into plastic cover nipple. No need to drill or glue. and inflated it with a compressor. it turned out to be an awesome thing. you can buy an old siphon at a flea market or ask a neighbor - there is a lot of such crap in the mezzanines

#gra 01/26/2013 21:52
I have a question: can a 150-200 mm cylinder withstand 5-7 atmospheres? and it's kind of creepy.

# zabatsay 01/27/2013 04:54
Must endure. Such cylinders are designed for 30-40 atm.

#Gauss 02/14/2013 19:27
Good afternoon I made a 250 ml can from a can, pumped it up to 4 atmospheres, the pumped air is blown out in literally 5 seconds. How many atmospheres do you need to pump to last longer? Who worked with what volumes and pressures, how much pumped air was enough?

# Leader 03/03/2013 13:50
I tried to do it as written, took a Defender 280 ml bottle and pumped it with a car pump to 8 atm, the bottom of the bottle squeezed out and the nipple flew off. I screwed the nipple back with glue and the next day I pumped it again, but this time at 5 atm, the air was blown out in 4 seconds. Then it is not clear what kind of air is used in this cylinder and what pressure is there, that it cannot even withstand 8 atm.

# zabatsay 03/03/2013 15:19
280 ml is not enough for compressed air. Such cylinders use either freon or liquefied natural gas. Essentially it’s like any aerosol can, only without the filler. take it from a deodorant - preferably the more, the better. more air. and you need to glue the nut in, and then screw in the nipple. After gluing, seal everything with sealant until the bottom is even. This way it’s more reliable and won’t wobble. Also glue in a tube from Chupa Chups - it’s more reliable.

I came to the conclusion that it is most reasonable to use a Siphon and cans with carbon dioxide, but I think it’s irrational to pump air into aerosol cans.

I invite everyone to speak out in

Few users realize how important it is to have compressed air in cans for your computer.

But in fact, it can save you from unexpected breakdowns, discomfort in using the device, as well as from a number of other unpleasant situations.

Where to get quality compressed air

Alas, this is true. The prophets were right and now even air is for sale.

Compressed air sold in cans different types and selecting it in trading network, it is important to understand that you are buying compressed air in cans for your computer, and not for any other device.

That's why it's worth it search in salons computer equipment in the departments of consumables and care products for computer equipment. You can also find similar products on similar Internet sites. If you try to find something similar in other places, there will probably be certain problems associated with it.

This is because if compressed air is used for other purposes, it may contain third-party components, the presence of which can be very dangerous for the contents of your case, or similar device requiring cleaning.

For example, manufacturers of compressed air for car repairs can add agents to it that prevent further destruction of car parts.

But the compressed air used by jewelers may contain components that, during operation, will allow microparticles of precious metals to bind together, since they can be reused in the creation of other products.

Advice: Pay attention to where you purchase compressed air and the contents of the bottle. You can get it from the inscription on the label. For example, an unscrupulous seller may “pump in” air that is unsuitable for processing computer parts.

How to use compressed air

Usually compressed air sold in metal containers– bottles where air is preserved under pressure.

The capacity of these containers may vary depending on the preferences of the manufacturer, but usually large-volume cylinders are not sold, taking into account the safety requirements relating to the product being sold.

Note, that in order to use the compressed air from the bottle, you must use the entire kit.

Yes exactly.

Compressed air is sold not just in cans, but in the form of a kit, which also includes a special nozzle in the form of a thin polymer tube.

One end of it, in the form of an adapter, is put directly on the movable nozzle of the cylinder, and the other is directed directly to the surface to be cleaned or an element placed on it.

Contrary to popular belief, you should not mindlessly press the spray valve. It is necessary to adhere to several strict rules that will save you from problems in the future.

Here are a few of them:

  • the air stream must be directed directly at the object being cleaned;
  • Do not release all the compressed gas in one spray;
  • Pressing should be serial and short-term.

All these rules are strictly justified.

For example, short-term targeted presses help economical use air, because its pressure is quite enough to remove dust and a number of sticky contaminants.

Correct way to hold the balloon

How to replace compressed air

As noted above, replacing one gas canister with another can lead to irreparable consequences.

For example, flammable gas mixtures used for cleaning may cause a fire, short circuit or poor quality cleaning. Similar situations may arise if the bottle contains humidified air or flammable gas.

Moreover, the consequences of cleaning with such a gas may appear not even during its implementation, but after, when the computer or other electronic device being cleaned is connected to the network.

When choosing a replacement for refrigerant cans (this is what manufacturers most often use), it is worth clearly understanding the features of using compressed gas and the purpose of its use. Accordingly, the gas directed into the housing must be dry, without additional impurities and preferably inert. Unfortunately, at home it is not always possible to comply with such requirements and you have to use something other than compressed gas.

Alternatives at home

The two most common solutions to this problem involve the use of household appliances.

In the first case it is hair dryer, which not every computer owner has, but in the second - vacuum cleaner. But even in this case, not everything is so smooth.

As for the hair dryer, when using it, it is important that it operates in a mode without heating the air. Otherwise, you can pay for the performance of the computer, since many of them, for example, laptops, can use glue, which, under the influence high temperature melts.

As for the vacuum cleaner, when using it, it is important to use the reverse mode, when air is not sucked in, but, on the contrary, blown out. This is necessary so as not to inadvertently tear out a soldered wire from the housing or, at high power of the vacuum cleaner, any other component.

This feature is not provided in every model, so be careful.

The correct way to use compressed air

How to make a spray can with your own hands

As for consumables disposable, the cost of a can of air seems simply exorbitant.

And although it is associated with complex technological process production, many consider it unfounded. That is why some users are trying to make a similar tool at home.

This task is quite feasible, but not everyone can do it. This is because for its implementation it is necessary to provide several details at once.

First, you will need an empty container.

You can use, for example, an already used compressed air container, but in no case a varnish or deodorant container, since they may contain residues of alcohol or chemicals.

The second required component is a car compressor.. It is this that will allow air to be pumped into the empty bottle.

And of course, connecting elements– car camera nipple and fragment gas burner, which will allow you to connect the cylinder with the compressor and reduce air losses during refueling.

Important: It is important to be especially careful when refueling with this method. Firstly, such a mixture cannot be used on all surfaces, since it contains flammable oxygen, and secondly, when refilling, the permissible pressure in the bottle must not be exceeded. Otherwise, it will rupture and cause injury or other damage.

How to make a homemade reusable compressed air cylinder for cleaning your computer?

This method eliminates the violation of the structural integrity of the cylinder by screwing, gluing or soldering bicycle, motorcycle or car nipples. This allows the cylinder to reach the pressure specified by the manufacturer and prevents the above items from being fired at the user. The role of a fuse when the permissible pressure is exceeded is played by a rubber tube with a clamp (do not tighten the clamp too much).

Precautionary measures

In order not to harm either yourself or the device being cleaned, you should pay attention Special attention a few more rules.

As for the user, even when working with safe compressed gas, difficulties can also arise. They happen if the owner of the gadget is prone to dust allergies or asthma.

Allergic reactions when handling a computer are inevitable, since the air blown out of the case in concentrated form contains dust. To prevent it from getting on your skin, eyes or Airways, it is necessary to use personal protective equipment:

  • glasses;
  • respirators;
  • gloves.

It is inconvenient to work in them, but this is a necessary safety measure. Also, do not use compressed air for other purposes and do not direct it, for example, onto mucous membranes.

As for the device being cleaned, it must be turned off before processing.

Moreover, you need to wait until it cools down and only then proceed to the next stage. If the housing is collapsible, it is necessary to remove the covers or removable walls to ensure comfortable access and unhindered dust removal.

Cleaning computer cases starts with moving parts, for example, then moves on to multiple radiator grilles (parallel metal plates) and only then begins cleaning printed circuit boards.

It is important not to scratch their surface and to do this, keep the adapter tube at a short distance from the board.

Rice. 4 – Method of cleaning a laptop with compressed air

Conclusions and parting words

As you can see, compressed air in computer cans is very useful thing, despite its apparent simplicity, it has many application features.

Removing dust with its help reduces the risk of the laptop, and will also remove the suddenly appearing hum coming from the case.

It is important that the chances of damaging the case and its contents, provided that a properly selected canister is used, is minimal.

This is because cleaning in this way is carried out non-contactly and the likelihood of mechanically catching even easily accessible elements is minimized. On the contrary, hard-to-reach places are cleaned with a high degree of efficiency due to the fact that the adapter tube is much thinner than the same hair dryer or vacuum cleaner tube.

Despite the fact that compressed air in computer cans is consumed literally in one use, you should not store it in inappropriate conditions.

The bottle should be protected from direct contact sun rays, and also not to give to children for their safety, because the pressure in the can is much higher than atmospheric pressure.
