Installing a bathroom sink: installation instructions for modern models. How to install

The furnishings in the bathroom should be stylish, combined with common interior premises. Each element should provide convenience and comfort, this applies to the washbasin. This element is the main one, so you need to approach its arrangement with particular care. Installing a sink with a cabinet in the bathroom will not take too much time, and this element looks very attractive. In addition, there is now a huge variety of cabinets in color, size, style that will fit perfectly into the design of the room and will suit any size of the room.

The washbasin with the cabinet has been selected, now you need to choose a suitable place in the bathroom for its installation. Be sure to consider the dimensions; the product must fit exactly into its place. It would be nice to place it near the bathtub, this will ensure ease of use.

It is better to select the area for installing the cabinets before work on the distribution of communications and pipes begins.

  • measurements are taken of the bathroom room and divided into sections;
  • think about where the location of the bathtub, shower, and sink should be;
  • be sure to take into account the presence of shelves, drawers. They can become an obstacle to the supply of pipes and fittings for connecting water to the mixer. It is better to provide for this option earlier, move the shelves so that they do not interfere with plumbing fixtures. You may need to trim it a little, but do it carefully, do not damage the structure of the furniture, do not spoil it appearance;
  • in cases where the sewerage system comes out of flooring, and in this area it is planned to install a cabinet, then in this case everything is simple. In order for the product to fit into the place and not disturb the sewer elements, its bottom must be trimmed. After trimming the bottom, the edges must be treated with a protective base.

How to install

The washbasin for the cabinets has been selected, the place has been prepared, we proceed to the installation itself. Typically this piece of furniture is sold together with the necessary mounting hardware, connecting elements, and sometimes included necessary tools for assembly, installation.

There is a diagram or installation instructions available. But you are unlikely to have to use a diagram or instructions; usually the design is so simple that you can install it yourself. And if you don’t need to trim, file for plumbing, communications, then this will take a maximum of 1-2 hours.

Pay attention to the quality of the fittings

. Do not tighten it too tightly, otherwise the gaskets will be damaged and the connection will leak;

unpleasant odors

Installing a sink with a cabinet in the bathroom yourself is not difficult if you listen to some recommendations:

  • First of all, let's start assembling the cabinets. Usually they should come with instructions to make work easier, but they are unlikely to be useful. This process is quite simple. The main thing is to make sure that the screws and fasteners are firmly secured. After installing the cabinet under the sink, this will be difficult to accomplish;

  • Once the cabinet is assembled, we begin arranging the sink. It is no different in appearance and functions from those sold separately, it’s just that the washbasin is made to fit the size of the bedside table and is used to complete it;
  • connect the siphon to the drain;

The siphon is installed by screwing it to the washbasin drain hole

  • We place the sink with the faucet already installed on it on the cabinet. Typically, metal corners are used to hold these elements together;
  • we move the washbasin and cabinet closer to the place where we plan to install these elements;

A sink with a siphon and a mixer is placed on a cabinet and moved towards the wall

  • Points for bolts should already be marked on the surface of the wall, on which the washbasin should then be secured. The marking is done independently. For greater accuracy, it is better to bring the washbasin to the wall and accurately measure the points. Using a tape measure you still won’t be able to achieve the required accuracy;

Markings on the wall for a future cabinet

  • We move the washbasin with the cabinet back and drill at the marked points;
  • After the holes are made, the bolts that come with the product should be inserted into them. When purchasing a product, be sure to check the presence of these elements; sometimes sellers simply forget to include them. And so that you don’t have to buy them separately, check their availability;
  • Now you need to install the sink and cabinet in place, screw everything in with bolts;
  • We check how the sink and cabinet stand. If everything is stable, does not wobble, and the product stands tightly to the surface of the wall, then everything is done correctly;

The process of installing a cabinet under the sink

  • At the end we connect the sewer. The mixer hoses must be connected to pipes with cold and hot water. The hoses are connected using a union nut and a rubber gasket;
  • Next, we seal the holes and connections. Sealing must be done, this will help avoid unexpected leaks;
  • at the end the siphon is connected to the sewer pipe. In order to seal all kinds of holes, you need to use a special rubber gasket or corrugated cuff;

  • It is important that before you start using the washbasin, it is better to check it for leaks; if there are none, then you can safely start using it.

What to do if there are no mounting holes on the cabinet

Sometimes products may not have holes for mounting to the wall. Basically, this problem often occurs with cabinets made in Turkey. Some consumers believe that it is quite difficult to attach this product to the wall in the bathroom and try not to purchase designs.

What to do when the product has already been purchased? Many people think that they can refuse and return it to the seller. Yes, of course, this can be done, but not always. The product may not be accepted, for many reasons. And if it is damaged and has defects, then it will definitely not be accepted back. If, of course, you want to waste time and nerves, then you can try. As a result, maybe they will replace it with a cabinet with holes. And if that doesn’t work, you can try installing a structure without holes.

It can be installed using a simple method:

  • ordinary silicone is used as fastening instead of bolts;
  • due to the fact that the structure rests on the cabinet, it will firmly adhere to the silicone mixture;
  • it is important that the wall surface is strong and its covering is made of high-quality tiles;
  • in this case, there is no need to drill the surface of the walls, leaving them in strength and good condition. And the appearance of the design will remain in perfect condition.

Silicone sink mount

Installing a cabinet using silicone is suitable for those who do not want to spoil their bathroom wall covering, especially if it is of low strength. In addition, this installation method is much faster than using bolts and drilling.

Installing a bathroom vanity vanity is a simple process that does not require much work or knowledge. You can do everything yourself without resorting to the help of professionals. The main thing is to choose a suitable design and correctly calculate the place for its installation. With this approach, you can get a comfortable, stylish, functional room.

Even a novice master with a simple set of special tools, will be able to figure out how to install a sink in the bathroom. A focused person should not have any real difficulties when performing such an operation.

Types of fastening sinks - get acquainted with the options

Manufacturers now produce a wide variety of types of washbasins. They differ from each other not only in their appearance, but also in the method of fastening. From this point of view, shells can be:

  1. With a pedestal. They are fixed on brackets or other fasteners. The pedestal of such sinks masks the elements of the sewer system and. You can choose the desired height for installing the washbasin yourself.
  2. Invoices. These sinks are always placed on the countertop. It has a relatively small rise above the plane. When installing something like this plumbing equipment It is necessary to provide a place on the countertop for mounting the faucet, since, as a rule, there are no holes for it in counter-mounted sinks.
  3. Mortise. Washbasins mounted in the countertop. In this case, they are installed above the surface with a 2-3 cm protrusion. The equipment is fixed using special fasteners.
  4. With fastening to the wall surface. Such sinks are either screwed or fixed to the wall of the bathroom.
  5. Furniture. Equipment that comes complete with a cabinet or a special stand with certain geometric parameters.

Sink in the bathroom

Installation different types Do-it-yourself washbasins are made according to approximately the same scheme. But in each case there are also significant nuances. They should be studied if you want the washbasin to be installed in the bathroom once and for centuries.

We are preparing to install new equipment - what needs to be done?

First, you need to stock up on all the tools, without which the installation of new plumbing equipment cannot be completed. You will need: concrete drills, impact drill or hammer drill, silicone-based sealant, adjustable wrench, set of screwdrivers or screwdriver, dowel screws, wrenches, self-tapping screws.

Dismantling old sink

Now start removing the old sink. With your own hands, a similar procedure is performed as follows:

  1. Shut off the water supply to the house (apartment).
  2. Unscrew the fasteners that secure the mixer.
  3. Disconnect the water pipe.
  4. Remove the mixer.
  5. Tighten the nuts at the bottom of the old washbasin.
  6. Drain the remaining water from the siphon. Then dismantle it.
  7. Disconnect the siphon from the pipe (if you are replacing it with a new device).
  8. Remove the sink itself.

When disconnecting a flexible or rigid pipe from the mixer, lower its end into any container. There may be a lot of water left in the liner. It will flood your bathroom if the above precautions are not taken. Also, after disconnecting the siphon, we recommend plugging drain pipe cork suitable size or a regular rag. Then unpleasant odors will not penetrate into the bathroom. The plug or plug should be removed immediately before installing the new siphon.

We install the washbasin on the brackets with our own hands

A sink with a pedestal (a tulip beloved by many domestic consumers) is mounted taking into account the peculiarities of its design. You need to install the equipment leg, faucet and siphon correctly. It should be taken into account that the water drain will be located inside the pedestal. This means that all elements of the sink will have to be insulated and secured very well. This is the only way to protect yourself from leaks and the need for labor-intensive dismantling of the washbasin to eliminate them.

Self-installation of the sink

Tulips are usually mounted on brackets. The procedure for doing the work yourself is as follows: first make markings on the wall, draw a horizontal line 85–90 cm from the floor base, then measure the thickness of the sink from the side adjacent to the wall surface. Now step back down from the first line at a distance equal to the measured thickness, and put a second mark. This line will show exactly where the brackets should be mounted.

After this, measure the width of the washbasin. Mark it with marks on the line where the brackets are located. Drill holes at the marked points. Place dowels into the “holes” made, screw the brackets to them, and install the bowl on the fasteners. Here it is important to achieve maximum tightness of the washbasin to the wall surface. The sink must be truly stable - any swaying or shifting is unacceptable.

Finally, you connect the mixing device with your own hands, and then the drain. All existing joints must be treated with sealant. It is also possible to install the bowl directly on the leg. In this case, the tulip should be placed at some distance from the wall. This DIY installation method is rarely done. It does not provide the required quality of fastening the sink if the work is performed by an inexperienced home craftsman.

Note. The method of installing a tulip on brackets is also suitable for installing hanging bowls. In such cases, the mixer is placed either on the washbasin itself or on the wall above it.

Overhead and mortise bowls – minimum hassle

Such sinks are mounted on different kinds countertops and bathroom furniture. They are easy to install on special furniture made of wood, fiberglass products, brickwork, marble surfaces and structures made of artificial stone. Almost all overlay bowls are manufactured in a shape that ensures they are securely mounted to a specific solid base.

Example of an overhead bowl

It is very rare that you have to make openings of the required diameter in the tabletop with your own hands. Usually it initially has a hole for mounting the bowl. If there isn't one, you'll need to cut it out yourself. For these purposes, it is best to use an electric jigsaw. If the installation of sinks of the described types is carried out on a surface made of artificial stone or fiberglass, there is no need to treat the joints with moisture-proofing agents or sealant.

And here wooden furniture and natural bases will be properly waterproofed . With this treatment they will last much longer, without accidents or leaks. After all these preparations, all you have to do is put the washbasin in the opening that was made (originally available), and then install the siphon, pipes, and mixer. They are carried out similarly to the operations described above (for pedestal sinks).

Sink with cabinet - installation details

It’s not at all difficult to handle such a washbasin, which comes complete with a cabinet, with your own hands. You need to immediately (before installing the sink on the base) connect a corrugated pipe with a siphon and flexible hoses for supplying water to the cabinet. If you try to do such operations after installing the bowl, you will encounter big amount problems. They are due to the limited space inside the cabinet. It is almost impossible to carry out work on connecting system elements in such cramped conditions.

The second caveat is that in some cases the holes for the siphon pipe and hose outlets available in the cabinet are not suitable for your specific installation conditions. The problem is solved by cutting new openings. Use a saw for this circular type or an electric drill. Next, you need to position the cabinet correctly - strictly horizontally. The procedure is elementary. The cabinet has adjustable feet. You need to place a regular building level. And then carefully twist the legs.

Sink with cabinet

After this, place the bowl in a horizontally aligned cabinet and begin attaching the sink to the wall surface. This can be done in two ways: using sealant (silicone), using anchor screws. Pros advise choosing the first option. The fasteners do not need to be made extremely reliable, since the washbasin stands firmly on the cabinet. All you have to do is fill the space between the wall and the bowl with sealant and wait about 60 minutes for it to dry.

Installing anchor screws will significantly increase the labor costs for fixing the washbasin. And the result from such complex work will be the same as when using sealant. The last step of installation is to connect a siphon to the sewer pipe and a mixer to the water supply. This will complete all work.

One of the last stages in major renovation bathroom is equipping it plumbing fixtures. When all facing works done, the owner will have to think through everything down to the smallest detail (how to position the bathtub and washbasin, where the mirror will hang, where personal hygiene items will be located, etc.).

Attaching the sink to the wall and connecting it to the water supply is very simple. This is exactly what the process of installing a sink in a bathroom may seem like at first glance.

Today you can choose a device for morning washing different sizes, shape, color, quality and price range. This is the first problem that a user will encounter when choosing a sink.

Difficulties may arise when installing the sink. The installation principle for all types and sizes of sinks is almost the same. However, before this, the most important thing is to decide on the size and location of the ceramic product. About how to install acrylic bathtub with your own hands, you can read it.

Choosing a place to place the sink

IMPORTANT: in pursuit of an extraordinary design, you must not miss the most important detail– functionality!

Before purchasing a plumbing product, you must take measurements of the bathroom and (highly advisable!) schematically depict its layout on a piece of paper. This will help you choose the size of the sink and determine its location.

If you choose any compact model, then splashes of water, one way or another, will always be on the walls and floor near the sink. The optimal width for a sink is considered to be 50-65 cm, but the choice still remains with the owner. If you buy a sink that is wider than the standard, then such a device will cause more inconvenience than it will bring benefit.

If the bathroom space is quite large, then you can even install a double sink. In this case, it must be taken into account that the distance between the central points of the sinks should not be less than 90 cm. Only with this arrangement will people using the washbasins at the same time not interfere with each other.

Another important point is the height of the sink. Since in most cases family members are of different heights, when choosing a place you also have to take this into account.

It will not be possible, for example, to place a sink above washing machine, because small children will not be able to use it. According to regulatory documents, the installation height of a sink for an adult should be 80 cm, for a child – 60 cm, for a teenager – 70 cm. The standard height for installing this ceramic appliance is considered to be a distance of 80-85 cm from the floor to the side.

Installation wall-hung sink

Before you start installing the sink, you still need to decide at what distance from the floor it will be.

Stage one. At the selected height, applying a level, you need to draw a horizontal line - this will be the top of the sink. On the side where the bowl will come into contact with the wall, there are mounting holes. Having placed the sink against the wall parallel to the drawn horizontal line, you need to mark where the mounting holes will be located.

Stage two. In the designated places on the wall you need to drill holes, hammer in dowels and carefully screw the mounting pin into them. Mounting studs, dowels, nuts and plastic liners must be supplied with the sink.

IMPORTANT: mounting studs you need to tighten it so that the protruding part is greater than the thickness of the shell (plus 15-20 mm for screwing on the fastening nut).

Stage three. Before fixing the sink to the wall, you need to do. When the device is firmly screwed to the wall, this will be much more difficult to do.

1 - mounting pin,2 - hose for hot water, 3 - cold water hose

To do this, you need to do some preparatory work:

  • You need to screw a cold and hot water supply hose and a mounting pin into the mixer (in some mixers there are several such pins);
  • Using an open-end wrench, you need to completely tighten the water supply hoses (after fixing the mixer, you won’t be able to tighten them);
  • after threading the hoses through the special holes in the sink, the fastening pins must be secured with a sealing rubber band, tightened with a washer and tightened the fastening nuts;
  • Before tightening the nuts, it is necessary to adjust the direction of the mixer spout (it should be at an angle of 90 0 to the mounting wall).

Stage four. Now all that remains is to secure the sink with the faucet already screwed on. To do this, you need to put the sink on the mounting studs that protrude from the wall, insert the plastic liners and tighten the nuts tightly.

IMPORTANT: to avoid occurrence emergency situation, be sure to check the entire structure for strength after all operations, before connecting the cold and hot water hoses.

Stage five. When the sink is securely fixed, you need to connect the cold and hot water hoses to the plumbing system. It is recommended to use a rubber gasket between the tap and the nut to prevent water leakage.

Stage six. Installation and connection to sewer system drain siphon. First you need to assemble the siphon, since it is recommended to connect all types of siphons as a rigid assembly. It is allowed to use sinks with soft corrugated pipe(there are nozzles with a diameter of 32, 40 and 50 mm), however, in the first case the connection will be more reliable.

When connecting a soft cone-shaped cuff with an outlet pipe, it is necessary to seal the joint between the siphon, the lining and the pipe. After installation exhaust valve Remains of sealant are carefully removed.

The plastic nut, which is located on the top side of the outlet pipe, is hand-tightened until it stops. The siphon itself is exposed under the right angle to the sewer system, after which it is fixed at the required height.

Installation of a sink with a pedestal (tulip)

If purchased ceramic product has a support leg or is mounted on a bedside table, you don’t have to choose the height of its placement.

First you need to install all the supporting elements (bedside table, support leg) on your permanent place, after which you can begin connecting to the sewer system.

With a pedestal it will not be difficult only when the drain socket is placed at a height of at least 0.5 m, and the sewer pipes are hidden in the wall. Otherwise you will need to use additional materials(adapters, seals, corrugated pipes).

As in the case of a wall-hung sink, you first need to install the faucet and drainage system, and only then install the device. The pedestal is secured using the same mounting pins, sealing washers and nuts.

After installing a sink in the bathroom (regardless of the shape, type and size), you need to open the water and check the entire structure for leaks. If water oozes somewhere, then this place needs to be treated with sealant again.

One of the essential elements of a bathroom is a sink, as it is almost impossible to do without it. In addition to the fact that this accessory provides convenient carrying hygiene procedures, it should also fit harmoniously into the interior of the bathroom. It is not always possible to purchase a bathtub, toilet, bidet and sink at the same time, so they are often purchased at different time and at different manufacturers. Despite this, all these devices must form a single ensemble. To choose the right bathroom sink, you need to know what they are, how they differ, and also understand the main advantages and disadvantages of each type.

Types of shells

Unlike kitchen sinks bathroom sinks come in much more wide range. In order to choose the right accessory, you need to pay attention to the following characteristics:

  • type of instalation;
  • shape and size;
  • manufacturing material.

Types of bathroom sinks by installation method

Based on the installation method, sinks are divided into the following types:

  1. With a pedestal. Popularly, this design is also called a tulip. Its main feature is the presence of a leg or pedestal. This solution allows you to hide the siphon and water pipes, and also provides reliable support for the bowl. These structures have a given height, usually 70–80 cm, and if it is not enough, you will have to additionally make a stand or pedestal. It is impossible to reduce the height of the pedestal.

    The pedestal supports the sink and allows you to hide communications

  2. Invoices. Such models are installed on the countertop and protrude above it by a distance not exceeding 10 cm. After installing the countertop sink, it seems that it is a free-standing item. Such designs do not have a hole for installing a mixer, so the faucet is mounted on the countertop. For ease of use, the height of the tabletop should be no more than 85 cm.

    The countertop sink is installed on the countertop

  3. Mortise. This type of sink cuts into the countertop; this can be done both from below and from above. When inserted from below, the plumbing fixtures are located flush with the countertop, which greatly simplifies the removal of water that has fallen on it. When installing a sink on top of a countertop, it protrudes a few centimeters above it. The mixer can be installed either in the hole on the sink or on the countertop.

    A built-in sink can be mounted either above or below the countertop

  4. With wall mounting. This design is also called cantilever. There is no need to install a cabinet or countertop here, since the sink is fixed directly to the wall using special fasteners. There are models of sinks with wide wings that allow you to imitate a countertop. The faucet can be installed either on the sink itself or on the wall. The main disadvantage of such models is that the connections to the water supply and sewerage systems remain visible. The advantage is the release free space, and this important point For small rooms. You can install a washing machine under flat models.

    Wall-mounted washbasin saves space

  5. Furniture. Typically, such models come complete with bathroom furniture. They can be mounted on a separate tabletop, but most often furniture sinks placed on a stand or bedside table corresponding to their size.

Shape and size

One of the main parameters that you need to pay attention to when choosing a bathroom sink is its size. Only a properly sized washbasin will ensure comfortable use and will not take up a lot of free space.

For small spaces, sinks with a length of 50–65 cm and a width of 40 cm are usually chosen. If you have a large room, then you can install models up to 75 cm long or a double sink, in which case two people can wash at the same time.

Having decided on the size of the sink, you can proceed to choosing its shape. The sinks are:

  • round;
  • oval;
  • rectangular or square;
  • complex shape.

Material of manufacture

A variety of materials are used in the manufacture of bathroom sinks:

  • Ceramics are the most common products. Porcelain is more expensive and of higher quality, sanitary ware is simpler and cheaper;

    The most common option is a faience sink.

  • natural or artificial marble. Although natural marble and a more expensive material, but the presence of pores in it requires more careful maintenance. Shells from artificial marble outwardly practically no different from those made from natural stone, but are cheaper. In addition, they have a smoother surface, which makes cleaning much easier;

    Artificial marble looks practically no different from natural marble

  • corian - composite material, which includes acrylic resins and mineral filler, and with the help of pigment you can apply a coating of any color. Since this material is easy to process, it can be used to make sinks of any shape. Such models have smooth surface, so they are easy to care for;

    Corian can be used to make a sink of any shape.

  • glass. Although glass sinks are expensive, they look very beautiful. Special glass is used for their manufacture, so their strength is high. The disadvantage of such models is that they show traces of water, so they need to be looked after more carefully;

    A glass sink always looks stylish and beautiful

  • Stainless steel. Such sinks have a long service life, high strength and hygiene. The disadvantage is that when a jet of water hits, it creates a lot of noise. look after metal models you need to be careful not to scratch their surface.

Preparing for installation

Despite big choice bathroom sinks, their installation is almost the same. In addition to the fact that you need to firmly secure the bowl, you will also have to connect the water and drain, and install a mixer. Only high-quality execution of all stages of installation will allow you to install the sink correctly and avoid leaks.

Materials and tools

In order to install a bathroom sink yourself, you will need following materials and tools:

How to shut off the water supply

Before carrying out any plumbing work in the bathroom, you need to turn off the water supply. Please note that not only cold, but also hot water is supplied to the washbasin, so you need to turn off both taps. This is done at the entrance to the apartment, and if there are additional taps, then you can stop the water supply only to the bathroom.

You need to make sure that the water pipes and drain can be connected to the selected sink model. If this is not possible, then it is necessary to lengthen the existing pipes or install new ones.

Removing an old sink

If you are replacing an old sink, it must first be removed. The work is performed in the following sequence:

  1. Removing the mixer. First, disconnect the cold and hot water pipes from it, after which the fastening nut is pumped out and the mixer is removed.

    To remove the mixer, you need to unscrew the nut that secures it.

  2. Removing the siphon. Unscrew the nut securing the siphon from the bottom of the sink, disconnect it from the drain and drain the water.

    To remove the siphon, you need to unscrew the nut and drain the water.

  3. Removing the sink. Remove the sink from its support - this can be a countertop, cabinet or brackets.

    The sink is removed from the support

So that during execution installation work the smell of their sewerage did not spread throughout the apartment; you need to cover the hole in the drain pipe with a rag.

Installation steps

Although when installing sinks different designs There are some peculiarities; the main stages of work are performed in the same way.

Installation work

Before you begin installing the sink, you first need to decide where it will be installed. At this stage the following work is performed:

  1. Determination of height. There are no strict standards for the installation height of a bathroom sink. Most experts recommend installing the sink at a level of 80–85 cm from the floor. It all depends on the height of the apartment’s residents. Choose this option so that the sink is comfortable for everyone to use.

    The installation height of the sink should be such that it is convenient for all residents to use it

  2. Installation layout:
  3. Installation of brackets. To attach the sink to the wall, you need to install brackets. They come complete with the washbasin and match its size. In the marked places, holes are made using a puncher, plastic dowels are inserted, and then the brackets are fixed to the wall. Mounting a sink on a wall is only possible if its surface is sufficiently strong. When installing a sink with a pedestal for it It is also necessary to attach the bowl to the wall. If installation is carried out on studs, it is necessary to use plastic inserts.

    Mount wall mounted sink only possible on a solid wall

Mixer installation

The mixer can be installed on the sink, on the wall or on the countertop. If it is placed on a bowl, then installation can be done after it is installed, but experts recommend doing this before attaching the sink, so all the work will be easier to complete.

Installation of the mixer is carried out in the following order:

Sink mount

After installing the mixer, the sink must be secured. This stage will differ depending on the chosen model:

  1. Fastening the sink to the wall. The bowl is placed on the installed studs, plastic inserts are inserted and the nuts are tightened. If the installation is carried out on brackets, then the bowl is simply placed on them.

    The bowl is placed on the installed studs, plastic inserts are inserted and the nuts are tightened

  2. Installation of a pedestal sink. This design can be of two types:
  3. Installation of a sink with a cabinet. The cabinet is placed, its horizontalness is checked, after which the sink is placed on it. The washbasin can be attached to the wall with studs, but this difficult option. Usually it is glued with a sealant, since the main support is on the cabinet, and the sealant only prevents water from getting between the wall and the sink.

    A vanity sink is usually secured to the wall using sealant.

At this stage, the mixer is connected to the hot and cold water supply system. To ensure tightness between the tap and the nut on the hose, it is necessary to install rubber gasket. If a flexible connection is used for connection, then the gasket is already installed in it; nothing additional needs to be installed or wound. Then turn on the water and check the tightness of the connection. If a leak appears, tighten the nut a little.

If leaks occur, just tighten the nut a little

Connection to the sewerage system

Now the sink needs to be connected to the sewer system. To do this, first install a siphon. This device can be S-shaped or bottle-shaped. Some sinks have an overflow hole. In this case, you need to install a siphon, which has a hole for installing an additional pipe.

Siphon installation sequence:

  1. The siphon outlet is inserted into the sink hole, after which it is fixed. To do this, you need to install a mesh, a gasket and secure the siphon with a screw.

    If diameter sewer pipe larger size pipes from the siphon, use a transition sealing collar

  2. Checking connections. After installing the siphon, a control drain of water is carried out. It is checked for leaks; if they appear, they must be eliminated. If the leak comes from under sealing collar, then you need to pull it out, lubricate it with sealant and make a new connection.

Video: installation of a wall-hung sink

Before you start using the washbasin, you need to check the quality of the connections and how firmly the bowl is installed. To do this, check the quality of all fasteners again. After this, open the hot tap and cold water and check the tightness of the water hoses. If there are water leaks, then the connections must be tightened, and when this does not help, unscrew the hose and rewind the FUM tape.

To check the tightness of the siphon, it is recommended to fill the sink with water by closing the drain hole. Then drain all the water - if there are no leaks in the siphon or hoses, then you can start using the sink.

When draining the water, check the tightness of the connections.

Do not over-tighten the connections, as you may damage the gaskets or strip the threads.

Possible errors and methods for eliminating them

Although installing a sink is not challenging task, when doing it yourself, certain mistakes may be made. Incorrect installation Not only does it lead to leaks, but a poorly secured sink can fall and cause injury to household members.

Main errors and ways to eliminate them:

Before you begin installing a new bathroom sink with your own hands or any other work related to the plumbing, you must turn off the water.

First of all, unscrew the nut holding the mixer and disconnect the rigid or flexible liner. It is best to place the disconnected pipes in a bucket, because... There may be waste remaining in them. After this, you can remove the mixer. Next, you need to disconnect the siphon connecting the bathroom sink to the sewer. Carefully unscrew the bottom nuts and remove the siphon.

If you want to replace old components, then the siphon must be disconnected from the drain, and the remaining hole must be plugged with a rag or plug to prevent unpleasant odors from penetrating into the room. After this, the sink should be removed from its mountings and thrown away (at your discretion).

Tulip sink and washbasin on brackets: installation procedure

Installing a tulip sink for a bathroom with your own hands is not fundamentally different from installing other types of products. The only feature of this type- this is the installation of the leg on which the bowl is placed. The installation height of the washbasin should be selected in accordance with the height of the lower leg. Along with the washbasin, there is also a faucet. Installation of these devices may require the use of special tools.

Another feature of this type is that the drain will be located inside the leg. Therefore, all parts must be carefully secured and insulated so that in the future you do not have to dismantle the product several times and constantly fear leaks.

Installing a sink on brackets yourself is not a very difficult undertaking. Installation of such a product is carried out after completion of all finishing works. First you need to make the correct markings and only after that start installing fasteners. First you need to draw a horizontal line at the required height (usually 85 cm from the floor). After this, stepping back a distance equal to the thickness of the washbasin on the side adjacent to the wall, you should draw a second line, which will become the basis for installing the brackets.

Measure the width of the sink, attach the brackets to the wall and mark for future holes. At these points it is necessary to drill holes and install dowels. The fasteners are screwed onto the dowels, after which the sink is installed on them. It should not move or wobble. Only after the bowl is firmly and tightly attached to the wall can it be drained. An alternative this method is to install a washbasin with your own hands on hanging shelf or a cabinet.

Installing a washbasin on a cabinet and pedestal

Bottle siphon connection diagram.

If it is carried out on a cabinet, the tabletop simultaneously becomes a holder for the bowl. The washbasin is either installed on top or completely built into the hole. In both cases, the drain is hidden under a shelf or in a cabinet. A similar sink is installed in accordance with the above technology, but the advantage is that for this method Many models of non-standard design products have been created. Such models can have standard and extraordinary shapes. Designer sinks can be made of glass, have a spherical or cubic shape, and you can decorate such a product with your own hands, using smalt, stones and everything that your imagination suggests.

If the sink is installed on a pedestal, then it all depends on the type of bowl itself. Sometimes the washbasin is mounted on brackets, and the pedestal serves a purely decorative function. In other cases, the bowl of the sink rests on the pedestal and seems to stand on it. In this case, the sink can be located quite long distance from the wall. If the structure is adjacent to the wall, it must first be mounted in the right place and the places for mounting the bowl must be marked. IN this option fastening with brackets is used, the technology of which was described above.

Rubber washers must be attached to the screws. It is not necessary to tighten them very tightly - it is enough so that the washbasin simply does not budge. Great forces can lead to cracks in the bowl. When installing a sink on a semi-pedestal, the outlet socket should be positioned at a distance of 50 cm from the floor. The bowl is attached to the wall, and the half-pedestal is installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
